Last month, Managing Partner Larry Kimmel spoke at the December Delaware Decision Makers meeting held at Delaware Technical Community College.
Delaware Decision Makers, which was founded seven years ago by retired boxer and Delaware native Dave Tiberi, is composed of 45 members of Delaware leaders including senators, state representatives, business leaders, community leaders, school superintendents and legal professionals. Last month’s meeting featured Wilmington Mayor-Elect Mike Purzycki as the keynote speaker.
Kimmel Carter Managing Partner Larry Kimmel was also invited to speak at the meeting about the Blue-Gold High School All-Star Basketball Games, an annual event that Kimmel Carter sponsors and supports.
Blue-Gold Basketball is a four-day event that benefits Best Buddies of Delaware. Founded by Mort Kimmel in 1999, the games feature the top 60 Delaware high school senior basketball players from throughout the state. Larry Kimmel, who is the chair on the board of trustees for the games, says, “Sponsoring and chairing the games is hugely rewarding. We are making a positive difference in not only the lives of individuals with disabilities, but also in the lives of the student athletes by providing a meaningful and memorable experience beyond the games.”
Every penny raised by the games benefits Best Buddies, a nonprofit organization that creates one-to-one friendships and leadership opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
This year’s 19th annual games will be held on Saturday, March 18th in the Bob Carpenter Center at the University of Delaware. For more information and pictures from last year’s game, visit the Blue Gold Basketball Facebook page.
